Costa Rica Vacation Itineraries

Couples’ Getaway

Live it up at two of Costa Rica’s most luxurious hotels in two of its most popular destinations. Bonus: Free night at Arenal Kioro.

Adventure, relaxation, nature, and luxury all come together in this eight-day, even-night vacation package. You’ll start out amid lush tropical gardens that grow around natural hot springs that are heated by Arenal Volcano. From there you’ll head into the rainforest, where you can explore the treetops, rappel down rushing waterfalls, and study nature up close from hanging bridges.

And then comes the beach. The second half of this laid-back itinerary takes you to Guanacaste’s famous Conchal Beach and the gorgeously appointed, all-inclusive Westin Resort.

This itinerary is designed with couples in mind, which is why we’ve added a heavy dose of downtime for you and your significant other to experience as the two of you feel fit.

Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica! Now get in some hot springs.

The adventure begins when you land in Liberia. From there you’ll enjoy a scenic three-hour ride through Costa Rica’s incredible landscapes until you reach the base of conical Arenal Volcano. Your home for the next three nights is Arenal Kioro Hotel, where luxury amenities, thermal hot springs, gourmet dining, and sweeping volcano views converge at a five-star boutique hotel.

Day 2: Rainforest tram, hanging bridges, and zipline tour

Head into the rainforest and get a bird’s-eye perspective, three different ways: you’ll soar between trees on the canopy tour; hanging bridges will let you linger and fully soak in the natural wonders around you; and an aerial tram will take you deeper into the forest canopy than you ever imagined. The air is fresh and sweet; the only sounds are those produced by nature. After today you’ll better understand why Costa Rica is a leader in ecotourism.

Day 3: Waterfall rappelling

Let the water cascade over your body as you rappel down a jungle-enshrouded cliff. Today’s activity is an explorer’s dream: you’ll check out remote canyons, see hidden waterfalls, trace rivers, and find thrills – and togetherness – that you and your partner will talk about for years.

Day 4: Head to the beach

Load into your private transfer and head to Conchal Beach. It’s all white sand, blue waters, and seashells (hence the name Conchal). Sound nice? It gets better: you’ll be staying at The Westin Conchal, one of Costa Rica’s most luxurious all-inclusive resorts.

Day 5: Sunset catamaran tour

Every day the sun puts on the greatest show on earth around 5:30 in the afternoon. And while taking in a gorgeous tropical sunset from a palm tree-lined beach is great, it’s even better from the deck of a catamaran. On the boat you’ll enjoy beverages and snacks, as well as the chance to snorkel and kayak in the Pacific Ocean.

Days 6 & 7: Enjoy the Westin

With so much going on at the Westin, you can spend days exploring the grounds, enjoying world-class cuisine at eight different restaurants, and visiting the several pools (including an adult-only private beach club). You can hit the links, play tennis, or enjoy the in-house programs that the hotel offers every day. And if you want to get outside of the compound and check out the region, this part of Guanacaste offers scuba diving, sport fishing, sailing, several national parks, adventure activities, and more.
