Mel Gibson’s Playa Barrigona estate on market for cool $30M
If you want to follow in the tropical footsteps of the star of Braveheart, it’s time to start pinching some pennies.
Mel Gibson, the controversial Hollywood actor, director and producer has officially listed his 400-acre beachfront property in Playa Barrigona for sale. It can be yours for just $29.75 million – the same price as when it was originally listed three years ago.

What do you get for $29.75M?
In addition to the 400 acres of wild tropical dry forest, you’ll get a lengthy coastline (some reports have it at two miles long)* located near Sámara and Nosara on the Nicoya Peninsula, two nice little beach towns that have just about anything a person could need. Unless that person has $30M to spend on a part-time property. That person might need a little more, but fortunately they can afford to import anything fancier than Salsa Lizano.
If the neighbors in town are too much, you can stay home with the sea turtles, howler monkeys, ocelots, and other native critters.
It might not be Mel Gibson-style stardom, but we’ll make you feel like a star. Free vacation planning.
But it’s not just land! The property comes with three villas that total 12 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms. Each one sits on its own hilltop. The main house is a soaring Spanish-inspired affair with grand courtyards, imported tiles, custom stone carvings, and native hardwoods. There is, of course, the requisite swimming pool. The main house features seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
The two more modest villas each feature two bedrooms and their own kitchen, living room, and swimming pool.
